LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team played Bellarmine to a 1-1 draw Friday night in a Great Lakes Valley Conference battle.
NKU struck first in the 68th minute when
Steven Beattie netted a goal off an assist from
Jack Little. Bellarmine, however, countered that score five minutes later on Bradley Barraclough's goal.
The defenses dominated play during the two overtimes, and neither team could find the back of the net. NKU goalie
Michael Lavric finished with a career-high 11 saves.
NKU, ranked No. 7 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, is 2-0-1 overall, 1-0-1 in the GLVC. Bellarmine, which entered Friday's contest ranked No. 23 in the national poll, is also 2-0-1 overall, 1-0-1 in the GLVC.
NKU returns home to face Kentucky Wesleyan at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the NKU Soccer Stadium.
