HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Michael Holder scored a pair of first-half goals Friday night to lead the Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory against Findlay in the season opener at the NKU Soccer Stadium.

Steven Beattie added a goal and two assists for the Norse, who are ranked 21st nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. NKU (1-0) dominated both ends of the field and finished with a 30-6 advantage in shots against the Oilers (0-1).

Holder, a freshman forward from Toronto, Ontario, netted his first goal at the 34:38 mark off an assist from Beattie. Four minutes later, Holder scored his second goal by knocking in a rebound off a Beattie penalty kick that had been saved by Findlay goalie Matthew Brooks.

Nicholas Chiarot blasted in a shot from 35 yards straight out front to extend the NKU advantage to 3-0 at the 54:35 mark. Beattie later capped the NKU scoring with an unassisted goal, his 52nd career marker.

Michael Lavric notched the shutout and collected three saves. NKU now leads the all-time series against the Oilers, 8-2-1.

NKU begins Great Lakes Valley Conference action Sunday by hosting Southern Indiana at 2:30 p.m.
