Five NKU players score goals during 5-1 victory at Saint Joseph's on Friday night

RENSSELAER, Ind. - Five Northern Kentucky University players netted goals Friday night as the Norse posted a 5-1 victory at Saint Joseph's.

Michael Holder scored a goal and added an assist for NKU, which is ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division II national poll. The Norse improved to 10-1 overall, 8-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

NKU is now 23-2-3 all-time against Saint Joseph's, which dropped to 4-5-2 overall, 4-3-2 in the GLVC.

Holder began the NKU scoring at the 25:16 mark by heading in a throw-in from Anthony Meyers, who had launched the ball into the box from the left sideline. Holder finished with his fourth goal of the season.

The Norse increased the lead to 2-0 at the 29:54 mark on a rebound shot from Mohammad Salhieh, who finished off the loose ball in front of the goal for his fifth marker of the season. Saint Joseph's countered with a score in the 40th minute to cut the NKU advantage to 2-1 at intermission.

Ian O'Reilly extended the NKU lead to 3-1 at the 48:26 mark by blasting a 30-yard shot over Saint Joseph's goalie Steve Quella into the back of the net. Brodie Steigerwald's goal at the 64:12 mark upped the Norse advantage to 4-1, and Kevin Donnelly capped the scoring with a marker in the 81st minute.

NKU travels to Indianapolis to play the Greyhounds for sole possession of first place in the GLVC at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Indianapolis is also 8-1 in the GLVC and tied with NKU atop the GLVC standings.

Indianapolis (9-2 overall) enters that contest having won eight consecutive games.
