HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team welcomed Cedarville to the Yeager Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon and greeted them with an 8-1 result.

NKU (7-2) quickly took a 3-0 lead in the team contest after all three Norse doubles teams defeated their counterparts.

NKU's first point came by way of a perfect score in a doubles set when Pierce Kohls and Tyler Fraser trounced Bobby Eberhard and Kyle DeBoer by an 8-0 tally.

The French tandem of Martin Leroy and Guillaume Berman, in flight No.-1 action, downed Aaron Niemiec and Quinton Paul by a final of 8-4, which was the same score in the No.-3 flight as the duo of Ricardo Weaver and Jimmy Caccamo defeated Kyle Kirby and Jared Gerber.

Kohls, Fraser, Berman and Leroy, along with teammate Lee Lonergan, saw little to no challenge in their respective singles flights, no Cedarville contestant won more than three games total.

Kohls, a freshman from California, Ky., turned in yet another perfect score as he bested Paul in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. The Calvary Christian School graduate now leads the squad with a 10-3 overall record in singles competition.

Fraser and Berman defeated each of their singles counterparts by the same 6-0, 6-1 score. Leroy and Lonergan also saw little challenge in the flights as Leroy defeated Niemic 6-2, 6-1, while Lonergan controlled play in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over DeBoer.

Cedarville (2-7) got its only point of the match in flight No.-6 action when Drew Steinhart defeated NKU's Shriver Withrow in a hotly-contested 6-3, 7-6 (7-0) match.

The Norse will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to take on the University of Indianapolis to open play in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
