HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team resumes Atlantic Sun Conference play this weekend when the Norse travel to East Tennessee State on Friday night, and host Stetson on Sunday afternoon.
Friday's road match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff, while Sunday's contest is slated for a 1 p.m. start at the NKU Soccer Stadium. Live stats and video links for both matches can be found at nkunorse.com.
East Tennessee State (7-5-2, 3-1-0 Atlantic Sun) is tied for first in the A-Sun with nine points. They have an impressive record against ranked teams in the Continental Tire Coaches' Poll, having gone 1-0-2. ETSU defeated then No. 17 UAB by a 1-0 margin. They own ties with No. 18 Wake Forest, and No. 25 Furman. The Buccaneers own an impressive 5-1-1 record at home this season.
ETSU is led by All-America candidate David Geno, who leads the Atlantic Sun in goals (10), points (25) and shots (41). His five assists are tied for second, along with teammates Colin Pugh and Blaike Woodruff. Keeper Ryan Coulter has started all 14 matches for ETSU and has posted four shutouts while making 41 saves. The Buccaneers have scored 24 goals this season, with 14 of those goals coming in the second half.
Stetson (2-6-1, 1-2-0 Atlantic Sun) enters this weekend's contests trailing the Norse by four points in the Atlantic Sun table. They are coming off a 3-0 defeat by USC Upstate, but tied UCF on Oct. 10. The Golden Knights of UCF advanced to the NCAA tournament last season.
The Hatters are led offensively by Kal Eckenrode, who has scored two goals and added an assist in nine starts this season. Andreas Schnable has been in goal for all nine matches for Stetson, and has recorded two shutouts while making 28 saves on the season.
