HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team will suit up for its final road game of the 2012 campaign on Thursday night when the Norse take on Mercer. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

NKU (6-8-1, 3-1-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) is coming off a 1-0 victory over Stetson on Sunday. Nick Toney scored his team-leading third goal of the season in the 34th minute on a header off a cross from Craig Heard. With the win, the Norse have 10 points in the Atlantic Sun table, and are tied for third in the conference. They trail co-leaders Mercer and ETSU by just two points.

Mercer (9-5-1, 4-1-0 A-Sun) sits atop the Atlantic Sun standings. The Bears are coming off a 2-1 defeat at Jacksonville where they outshot the Dolphins in the match, 26-10. The Norse defeated Jacksonville, 2-1, on Oct. 14. The Bears own a victory over A-Sun co-leader ETSU. They beat the Buccaneers, 2-1, on Sept. 30. Mercer also owns conference wins over Lipscomb, Stetson, and North Florida.

The Bears' potent attack is led by Ryan King. King is tied with David Geno for first in the A-Sun with seven assists. Will Betts is Mercer's leading goal scorer with four. Five players on the Mercer roster have scored at least three goals this season. Greg Ranjitsingh is the keeper for the Bears, and he leads the conference with seven shutouts. His .840 save percentage and 0.85 goals against average also are tops in the A-Sun.

After their trip to Mercer, the Norse return home to face USC Upstate on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Kickoff against the Spartans at the NKU Soccer Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
