HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team will close out its 2012 campaign when they host Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon at the NKU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Live stats for the match will be available at nkunorse.com. The Norse will try to remain unbeaten at home, as they carry a 3-0-1 record this season at the NKU Soccer Stadium into the match.
NKU (7-9-1, 4-2-1 Atlantic Sun) will honor its three seniors prior to kickoff of the match.
Michael Bartlett,
Shawn Parker, and
Mohab El Tawila will each be suiting up in their final collegiate contest. Bartlett and Parker were members of the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championship team, while El Tawila joined the team this season.
The Norse are coming off of a 1-0 win over USC Upstate on Wednesday. NKU scored the game's lone goal in the 17th minute.
Brendan Murphy fired a long pass to
Cian McDonald on the far side of the field, and McDonald executed a beautiful cross into the 18-yard box, where
Craig Heard headed the ball home for his third goal of the season. All three of Heard's goals have been game-winners this season.
Lipscomb (5-11-1, 2-4-1 Atlantic Sun) enter Saturday's match coming off a tough loss at North Florida. The Bison have not clinched a berth in the Atlantic Sun tournament, and will need help should the Norse defeat them on Saturday. Lipscomb owns conference wins over Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville.
The Bison are led offensively by Reece Holcombe. Holcombe leads Lipscomb in both points (10) and goals (four). Jeremy Reid leads the team with four assists. Ethan Summers' three goals rank him second, just behind Holcombe. Miguel Hof has been the keeper as of late for Lipscomb. He has made ten starts, and owns a 4-7-0 record with a shutout and 34 saves so far this season.
