The NKU women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Bellarmine on Saturday.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team fought valiently but came up on the short end of a 5-4 decision against Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Bellarmine at the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex.
The loss dropped NKU to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in GLVC play.
After the Norse got a win in the No. 3 doubles from
Jillian Sturgeon and
Jenny Hand, who defeated Kelly Hollingsworth and Hannah-Rose Hagan by an 8-6 score, the Norse tied the match at 3-3 with wins in the No. 2 and 3 singles flights from
Claire Spradlin and Clemence Binion, respectively.
Sturgeon won at No. 6 and Hand fell at No. 4 to make it a 4-4 score with only the No. 5 flight remaining, which Hollingsworth won over
Whitney Thomas in dramatic fashion, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.
The Norse return to action on Tuesday, taking on No. 47 ranked Charleston (W.Va.). First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
