HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team had a successful Spring Break, winning three matches against tough competition.

The Norse (8-2), ranked No. 44 in the latest NCAA Division II national poll, opened on Sunday with a 5-2 victory over Division I foe Bethune-Cookman.  It marked NKU's second victory over a Division I opponent this season.  The Norse defeated Dayton, 4-3, on Feb. 10.

NKU opened with a sweep of doubles play before GLVC Player of the Week Guillaume Berman led off singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Juan Varon in the No. 2 singles flight.  Pierce Kohls, Andre Correa and Tyler Fraser also claimed singles victories in the match to give the Norse the win.

On Monday the Norse picked up a 9-0 sweep over Catawba.  NKU dropped just one set across the board in the victory.

On Tuesday, NKU met Tusculum and came away with a 7-2 decision.  The Norse swept singles play, while their two losses in doubles action were very close.  Fraser and Kohls claimed a 3-0 week in doubles play and improved to 5-0 as a team.

Fraser and Correa share the team's best singles records, each at 10-1.  Christopher Angulo follows at 9-4 and Berman and Leroy each claim 8-4 records.

NKU will take some time off before facing Xavier on March 21 in a final tune-up leading into the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener against Bellarmine on March 24.
