HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Hot off the heels of a successful Spring Break road trip, the Northern Kentucky University softball team will return home this weekend for Great Lakes Valley Conference action against Quincy and Illinois Springfield.

The Norse will host Quincy on Saturday afternoon, while Illinois Springfield heads in on Sunday.  First pitch for each day's doubleheader is scheduled for noon at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.

NKU finished a busy Spring Break week going 6-2 over a five-day swing.  The Norse claimed doubleheader sweeps over Maryville and Lincoln Memorial and split twin bills with Missouri-St. Louis and King (Tenn.).

LAST TIME AGAINST QUINCY: After the Norse swept the regular-season doubleheader between the teams last year, the Lady Hawks got the last laugh, taking a 2-0 victory to eliminate NKU from the GLVC Tournament.  The Norse managed just one hit against Torie Bunzell, who struck out 14 batters in the victory.  NKU maintains the all-time series lead at 21-13, including an 8-2 mark at home.

LAST TIME AGAINST SPRINGFIELD: The Norse and Prairie Stars split their regular-season doubleheader in 2010, with NKU taking a 9-1 win in the opener before UIS came back for a 5-3 victory in Game 2.  April Ehlers managed four hits across the twin bill, while Rose Broderick had a double and a home run in Game 2.  The 2010 meeting is the only one between the teams.

“EM” N-O: Emily Schwaeble collected her first collegiate no-hitter on Tuesday, blanking Lincoln Memorial by a 3-0 score.  Schwaeble struck out 15 Railsplitters and allowed just two on base via the walk in the victory.  The performance punctuated a week in which the junior went 5-0 in the circle, striking out 52 in seven appearances.

FARRIS FINDS IT:  After having her struggles at the plate in the early going, Jessica Farris has heated up, amassing 10 hits and leading the team last week with a .333 batting average over the Spring Break week.  The senior had five doubles on the week as well to take over second all-time at NKU with 42 career two-base hits.

STEINMETZ STILL HOT: Kaylin Steinmetz continues to swing a hot bat, connecting for five home runs and driving in 12 Norse last week.  Her seven home runs on the year and .957 slugging percentage both rank second among GLVC hitters.
