HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Due to inclement weather, Saturday's Great Lakes Valley Conference softball doubleheader between Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana was halted with the score tied at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning.
Though the game is officially halted, no date has been set for the game to be resumed. NKU will close out its Great Lakes Valley Conference weekend on Sunday against Kentucky Wesleyan. First pitch at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
USI's Kristen O'Haver opened the scoring with a two-run blast to left-center field in the top of the third inning. The Norse answered with back-to-back bombs from
Kaylin Steinmetz and
Emily Schwaeble.
Though they were adversaries on the field, both teams came together when the time came to cover the field. Unfortunately, continual rain and lightning prevented the resumption of the game.
Should the game not resume, the statistics will not count, as the game did not reach a reasonable point of conclusion.
