LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky women's tennis team dropped a pair of contests to nationally ranked programs on Wednesday.  NKU fell against Abilene Christian, 7-0, before dropping a 4-0 decision to Kentucky.

ACU (8-1) is the No. 3 ranked team in Division II while Kentucky (8-2) holds a No. 53 ranking in Division I.

In doubles, ACU's Micah Hermsdorf and Hannah Kelley shut out Marta Romeo and Claire Spradlin, 8-0. Emily Conrad and Jamie Lee Denton also succeeded, 8-4.

ACU swept through singles play as well.

Only singles matches were played against the Wildcats, who defeated the Norse in straight sets down the line.  Romeo put up a fight in the No. 2 flight, dropping a 6-0, 6-3 decision to UK's Caitlin McGraw.

Northern Kentucky, now 0-4 on the season, still looks for its first win. The team will return to action on Saturday, March 9, to host Austin Peay at Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex.
