NKU baseball falls to Kennesaw State, 12-1

KENNESAW, Ga. – Stephen Janas surrendered just one run on six hits as Kennesaw State posted a 12-1 victory over Northern Kentucky on Friday at the Stillwell Baseball Stadium.

Janas struck out eight Norse batters and did not allow a walk as he improved to 2-0 on the season for the Owls.

Zac Asman put the Norse on the scoreboard first when he sent a 0-1 Janas pitch over the left field wall in the second inning, marking the first earned run Janas has allowed on the season.

Kennesaw State put together two hits to respond in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 1-all.  The Owls broke the game open in the fourth inning, plating six runs before recording their first out, and added five more runs over the remainder of the game to cruise to the win.

Peyton Hart led the Owl offense with a 3-for-4 performance.  He scored twice and drove in two runs, while Max Pentecost finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.  Alex Liquori (2-for-4) recorded four RBIs on the day.

Bradley Vanderglas went 2-for-4 to lead the Norse.  Asman, Josh Myers, Logan Spurlin, Conor Ledger and Pat Hyde each collected a hit.

Kennesaw State improved to 12-10 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference, while NKU dropped to 2-20 overall, 0-1 in the A-Sun.  The Norse have lost 14 games in a row, tying the school record set during the 1998 season.
