Weekend game notes

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University softball team returns to the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field this weekend for a three-game series against Atlantic Sun Conference foe East Tennessee State.

The series will open with a doubleheader at noon on Saturday, followed by the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. NKU's five-game home stand concludes on Tuesday against Miami (Ohio).  Live stats and video links will be available at nkunorse.com.

The Norse (7-30, 1-14 A-Sun) are looking to erase the sting of a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Marshall in midweek action.

EAST TENNESSEE STATE SCOUTING REPORT: The Buccaneers enter the weekend with a record of 10-26 overall and 0-16 in A-Sun play, having dropped their last five contests, all in league play.  Nicole Fox leads the Buccaneer offense with a .333 batting average, 18 runs scored and 12 stolen bases.  The power comes from the bat of Jackie Baird, who has four home runs and 21 RBIs on the season.  Katie Wolff leads the Buccaneer pitching staff with a 4-14 record and a 2.91 ERA.

DOUBLES FOR DAVIS: Dee Dee Davis is becoming as familiar with second base on the offensive side of the ball as she is on the defensive side.  Davis is currently riding a six-game hitting streak during which she has amassed eight hits, six of them two-baggers.  Davis now leads the team with eight doubles and a .278 batting average.
