FORT MYERS, Fla. – Brooks Beisner's RBI single in the 10th inning gave the Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team a 3-2 victory over Northern Kentucky University on Saturday in Atlantic Sun Conference action at Swanson Stadium.

Michael Suchy set up the winning play when he reached base on a fielder's choice and went to second after Brandon Bednar was hit by a pitch.  After Brett Cisper replaced Brett Loeding on the mound for NKU, a wild pitch advanced Suchy and Bednar a base.

Nick Rivera drew a walk to load the bases, and Beisner stepped to the plate and sent a 1-2 pitch up the middle to drive in Suchy and give FGCU (24-16 overall and 10-7 in the A-Sun) the victory.

The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning and stretch their lead to 2-0 in the fourth, but NKU (8-34 overall, 3-14 in the A-Sun) battled back the following frame.

Cody Kuzniczci put the Norse on the scoreboard when he hit his second home run of the season down the left-field line.  Quint Heady sent a one-out double down the left-field line and scored on a Bradley Vanderglas double to left center, evening the game at 2-all.

Sean Dwyer finished 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI to lead the FGCU offense, while Bednar and Beisner went 2-for-4.

Jack English (1-1) only allowed one hit in four scoreless innings of relief for the Eagles and collected his first victory of the season.  He recorded five strikeouts and only walked one batter.

Heady, Kuzniczci, Vanderglas and Brad Clement each recorded a hit on the day for NKU.

Matt Jefferson went 7 1/3 innings for the Norse and only surrendered two runs on seven hits while striking out four batters.

NKU and FGCU conclude the series on Sunday at noon.  Live stats will be available at NKUNorse.com.
