JACKSONVILLE, Fla – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team fell to North Florida, 4-0, in Jacksonville to close out the regular season.

The Ospreys came out of the gate controlling the pace of the game.
Toby Frohlich was busy all game and as he faced 15 shots on the night. In the 7th minute, Frohlich made his first save of the game when Helge Pietschman took a shot from long range that dribbled into the hands of Frohlich. In the 23rd minute, Milan Kovacs headed a shot in at goal from a corner kick and Frohlich was in position to make his second save of the game.
Frohlich was under siege all night and in the 27th minute the Ospreys broke through. North Florida drew a foul from outside the NKU penalty area and set up a free-kick opportunity. Alex Morrell sent in the cross and Simen Solstad flew in the box unmarked to head the ball past Frohlich. Solstad's goal proved to be the only thing separating the two sides in the opening half. North Florida would lead NKU, 1-0, at the break.
The Norse came out pressuring the Ospreys in the second half.
Kobie Qualah took the first shot of the half for either side in the 47th minute. Qualah dribbled in between the two opposing centerbacks and struck a low shot on target. The UNF keeper, Kyle Nasta, was able to make the save. Nasta and the Ospreys nearly conceded in the 67th minute when
Cian McDonald attemped to curl in a shot from 30-yards out. McDonald settled the ball and patiently hit it towards goal but the ball didn't curl enough and it landed off target.
The final moments of the match were moments to forget for the Norse as NKU gave up three goals in the last 19 minutes of the game. Helge Pietschman, Milan Kovacs and Max McDaniel all scored from set pieces. The Norse never had an answer for the Ospreys and they would go on to suffer a 4-0 defeat to the Jacksonville side.
With the loss, NKU fell to 5-9-4 overall and 1-4-1 in the Atlantic Sun. Depsite the loss, NKU did receive some good news. With Lipscomb's 2-0 win over Jacksonville, NKU qualified for the A-Sun tournament as the No. 6 seed. Lipscomb will host the tournament and the first match for the Norse will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12 in Nashville.
