NKU men's tennis falls at Wright State, 5-2

SPRINGBORO, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Wright State University on Friday afternoon.
 
The duo of Mate Virag and Pierce Kohls led the Norse to an 8-5 doubles victory over WSU's Hayden Joblin and Ricardo Pineda. The Norse then dropped the remaining doubles matches, 8-5 and 8-4, to give the Raiders the point.
 
In singles' competition, NKU picked up two victories as Jack Carney defeated Aaron Madaris in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 and Jody Maginley won in a three-set thriller, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.
 
"Maginley and Carney were aggressive today," head coach Brian Nester said of his squad in the postgame comments. "Everyone competed well; the whole team played well."
 
The NKU men now sit at 2-2 overall and will take on Dayton on Friday, February 28.
