HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University softball team opens a seven-game road trip on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Butler. First pitch from the Butler Softball Field is scheduled for 2 p.m.
NKU snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday with a 9-7 win over North Florida in Atlantic Sun Conference play. It marked NKU's only win in the three-game weekend series, as the Norse now stand 3-21 on the season.

A WORD ABOUT BUTLER: The Bulldogs are 8-19 on the season and will wrap up a seven-game home stand on Wednesday after dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Big East foe Creighton on Saturday. Sarah Gronowski will lead the Butler offensive attack, as she holds a team-best .313 batting average and has stolen a team-best six bases. Kristin Boros enters the doubleheader after clubbing six hits, including a home run, and driving in four runs over four games last week. In the circle, the Bulldogs will look to Kristin Gutierrez, who is 5-8 on the year with a 3.07 ERA, to lead a depleted pitching staff that is short senior Leah Bry, who had season-ending shoulder surgery this week.
VAN HORN MAKING NOISE: Alexis Van Horn worked her way back into the Norse starting lineup this weekend and responded emphatically, rapping four hits, including a double, scoring three runs and driving in two more to snap an 0-for-8 streak dating back to March 1.
JARBOE STILL HOT: Despite an 0-for-4 performance in the series finale against North Florida, senior outfielder
Dana Jarboe has continued to rake in the leadoff spot, getting hits in 10 of her last 13 games spanning back to a Feb. 9 contest against Mississippi Valley State. Jarboe boasts a .289 batting average, good for third on the team.
STEALING MORE: KC Straley continues to march up the Atlantic Sun Conference stolen base charts, now ranking sixth in the league with 11 swipes on the season. Conference leader McKenzie Woody of Mercer boasts 18 stolen bases in 19 attempts.
