Loyola Marymount rallies for 8-3 win over NKU

LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University baseball team used a pair of three-run innings to key its 8-3 win over Northern Kentucky University on Saturday night at Page Stadium.

Loyola Marymount scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit, and the Lions added three more runs in the sixth inning to snap a 3-all tie and take the lead for good. The home team later added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to seal the victory.

David Edwards went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lead the Loyola Marymount offensive attack. David Fletcher, Tanner Donnels and Austin Miller each collected a pair of hits for Loyola Marymount, which is now 8-7 overall. Fletcher also scored a pair of runs.

Zac Asman collected a two-run single in the first inning for NKU, which is 3-10 overall. Asman's hit gave the Norse a 2-0 lead, an advantage which stood until Loyola Marymount plated three runs in the fifth inning.

Loyola Marymount, which finished with 14 hits Saturday night and stranded 12 baserunners,  is now 2-0 all-time against NKU.

Tim Peabody picked up the victory in relief for the Lions. Drew Campbell, who allowed two runs in 2/3 innings on the mound in relief, suffered the loss for NKU.
