USC Upstate defeats NKU in 16 innings, 3-2

and a double by Cody Kuzniczci, followed by a two-run single to right by Jordan Procyshen gave the Norse a 2-0 advantage that lasted until the seventh inning.
 
NKU starter Wendell Wright held USC Upstate scoreless the first six innings and took a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning. The Spartans, though, parlayed three walks and one hit into a pair of runs to even the score at 2-all. Brian Thompson's two-run single highlighted the USC Upstate rally in the seventh.
 
After USC Upstate plated the go-ahead run in the top of the 16th inning, NKU threatened in the bottom of the frame with runners on second and third. The Norse's Kyle Colletta then flew out to center to end the game.
 
USC Upstate won despite committing four errors and stranding 16 runners. NKU did not have an error, but the Norse left 15 runners on base. NKU pitchers walked 10 batters, while USC Upstate issued a total of five walks.
 
NKU outhit USC Upstate by a 13-10 margin. The Spartans improved to 14-24 overall, 4-10 in the Atlantic Sun. USC Upstate is now 4-1 all-time against NKU.
 
Colletta pitched 7 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Norse and finished with five strikeouts.
