ResultsDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team closed out its weekend in the Sunshine State with a 5-2 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
Yasmine Xantos and
Sierra Nellessen each picked up singles victories in the duel to pick up points for the Norse, who fell to 5-16 with the loss. Xantos snapped a seven-match losing streak with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Maria Dimitrova, while Nellessen bested Valentine Beresiarte in a third-set super tiebreak, 11-9.
In doubles action,
Maria Voscekova and
Danielle Donahue won their second match in their last three outings, defeating Maria Sablina and Mina Matsuba, 8-6, in the top doubles flight.
The Norse come home to wrap up the 2014 season next Saturday with a pair of matches. NKU will host Walsh at 1 p.m. before entertaining Wisconsin-Green Bay at 7 p.m.
