ResultsLEXINGTON, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team dropped a 6-0 result to a nationally ranked Kentucky squad on Wednesday night at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center.
Kentucky, ranked No. 14 in the latest national poll, jumped ahead early in the match with wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 flights to take a 2-0 advantage. In the top flight,
Mate Virag took Beck Pennington, who entered this week as the No. 90 singles player in the country, to a second set tiebreaker before Pennington claimed the win, 7-4.
The Wildcats (15-7) closed out the victory when Kevin Lai defeated Balint Zsiadi, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 5 flight. With the loss, NKU fell to 4-9 on the season.
The Norse return to Atlantic Sun Conference action on Friday, hosting Florida Gulf Coast. First serve from the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex is scheduled for 2 p.m.
