HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University softball team will play its final nonconference games of the 2014 season on Wednesday when the Norse host Morehead State for a doubleheader at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Norse enter Wednesday's twin bill with a record of 4-41 after being swept at the hands of Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb.
Katelyn Roy and
Alexis VanHorn each hit home runs in the finale of the series, a 6-3 loss for the Norse.

A WORD ABOUT MOREHEAD STATE: The Eagles hold a record of 14-30-1 coming into midweek action after picking up a weekend sweep of Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State, giving the Eagles six wins in their last seven games. Katie Raile leads the MSU offense, batting a team-best .276 with 23 RBIs. Stephanie Etter's .349 on-base percentage has led to a team-high 22 runs scored, while Tressa Watson has 15 extra-base hits, including five home runs, to post a .433 slugging percentage.
Tanna Seuferer leads the Eagles' pitching staff, bringing in an 8-13 record and a 4.63 ERA with two shutouts to her credit. Megan Tymorek, at 5-13 with a 5.84 ERA, is expected to get a start as well.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE EAGLES: The Norse piled on 11 hits, but could not hold back the MSU offense in an 8-5 loss to close out a doubleheader sweep on April 2, 2013, in Morehead, Ky. MSU won the first game, 3-0.

SENIOR WEEKEND: The Norse will wrap up the 2014 season this weekend with a three-game series against Florida Gulf Coast. Saturday's doubleheader will be Bark in the Park – fans are encouraged to bring their dogs along for the game and pick up some pet accessories. NKU Athletics will also be selling hot dogs at the game, with proceeds going to benefit local animal shelters. Sunday will feature the senior celebration, as seven Norse will play their final game in an NKU uniform. First pitch each day is scheduled for noon.
