singled to left center to start things off for NKU. After play resumed,
Logan Spurlin sent a shot back up the middle to advance Bauml to third. An RBI ground out from
Jordan Procyshen brought Bauml home to put the Norse on the scoreboard.
The Owls took a 6-1 lead in the eighth when Erwin singled to score Brennan Morgan, who drew a lead-off walk, before the Norse offense struck again in the bottom of the inning.
Quint Heady hit an infield single to start off the Norse frame, and he proceeded to steal second.
Kyle Colletta followed with a walk, and
Zac Asman reached base with one out as James Connell threw the ball by second baseman Dylan Ivey and into center field.
Heady took advantage of the miscue and scored as Colletta advanced to third on the play. Bauml singled through the left side to score Colletta for the final run of the game.
Bauml led the way for NKU, which fell to 14-33 on the year and 6-17 in the Atlantic Sun, going 2-for-4 from the plate. He scored one run, batted one run in and stole one base, while Heady swiped two bases on the day for the Norse.
Wendell Wright (2-5) pitched 6.1 innings and allowed four runs on nine hits. He struck out five batters with one walk for the Norse.
Drew Campbell and
Alex Bolia each allowed one run on one hit, while Bolia collected two strikeouts.
David Head made his first appearance on the mound this season for the Norse, and he gave up just one hit in the ninth.
NKU wraps up the home portion of its 2014 schedule on Sunday, as the Norse and Kennesaw State conclude the three-game series at noon. NKU will then travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to conclude the season against Jacksonville, starting with a 6:30 p.m. contest on Thursday.
