HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Kennesaw State University baseball team scored three early runs en route to a 10-1 victory over Northern Kentucky University in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Saturday at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex.
Brad Bohlen went 1-for-2 to lead NKU, which fell to 10-20 overall and 0-5 in the Atlantic Sun, and he scored the lone Norse run.
Cole Bauml extended his conference-leading on-base streak to 41 games with a sixth-inning single up the middle as
Cody Kuzniczci and
Caleb Lonkard recorded the other two hits for the Norse.
Evan Korson (2-4) struck out six batters and walked just two in seven innings of work, while surrendering six runs on eight hits.
Kennesaw State, which improved to 18-16 on the year and 4-4 in the conference, jumped out the early 2-0 lead in the first inning after Brennan Morgan's one-out home run over the left-field wall followed a double by Kal Simmons. A solo blast in the same direction from Colin Bennett pushed the Owls' advantage to 3-0 the following frame.

A two-out rally put NKU on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. Bohlen hit an infield single, and Lonkard doubled down the right-field line. Bohlen was waved around third and scored to cut the Norse deficit to 3-1 as Lonkard was thrown out at third to end the Norse threat.
The Owls stretched their lead with three runs in the top of the seventh and eighth innings, and a home run by Simmons down the right-field line in the ninth for the final margin of the game.
Travis Bergen (4-3) struck out nine batters and only walked two in the complete-game effort, allowing one run on four hits.
Jeremy Howell led the way offensively for Kennesaw State, going 3-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Morgan finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and RBIs, while Simmons, Bennett, Chris McGowan and Griffin Helms each posted two-hit days for the Owls.
