LAST TIME OUT: NKU is coming off a 4-0 loss at Horizon League foe UIC. In just his second collegiate appearance,
Owen Betz recorded an NKU Division I program record 11 saves in his 90 minutes in goal.
Kobie Qualah led NKU offensively with two shots, one on goal.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS: Bowling Green is 6-3-1 overall and is coming off a 1-0 loss to No. 25 Michigan State after defeating Ohio State, 2-0, last weekend. All three of its losses have come on the road as the Falcons own a 1-3-0 record on opponents' turf. The squad averages 1.70 goals per game and has only allowed six goals across 10 games, which ranks 14th in the NCAA.
Goalkeeper Anthony Mwembia has seen every minute between the posts and ranks 10th in the NCAA in save percentage at .860. The freshman owns a 0.57 goals-against average and leads the Mid-American Conference in saves with 37.
The squad is eighth in the nation in assists with 24 across 10 games. Pat Flynn is leads the Falcon offense with nine points via three goals and three assists. BGSU has three players tied with eight points including leading goal scorer Chris Brennan (four goals).
SERIES HISTORY: Bowling Green leads the all-time series, 1-0-1, after claiming a 2-1 victory in the teams' last meeting on Sept. 12, 2014 at BGSU. The first meeting between the Norse and Falcons fell on Sept. 23, 2013 when they battled to a 0-0 draw at NKU Soccer Stadium.
NKU DIVISION I PROGRAM RECORD: Freshman goalkeeper
Owen Betz made his second collegiate appearance at UIC over the weekend and recorded an NKU Division I program record in saves with 11. The Pass Christian, Mississippi, native has seen 187:18 minutes in goal across two games, both starts. Betz has totaled 13 saves and faced 42 shots en route to posting a .765 save percentage. He trails
Christian Carey who has 19 saves this season after seven starts and 505:35 minutes.
REMAINING SCHEDULE: The Norse are over halfway through the 2016 campaign with seven regular-season games remaining including Tuesday's matchup against Bowling Green. After Tuesday's game, the Norse have two remaining home matches, both against HL opponents in Cleveland State (Oct. 8) and Detroit (Oct. 22). The regular season concludes with a string of three-straight road matches at IUPUI (Oct. 26), Valparaiso (Sept. 29) and Green Bay (Nov. 4). The top six teams in the Horizon League qualify for the HL Championship set to begin on Monday, Nov. 7 at campus sites.
