@NKUNorseMSOC shuts out IUPUI, 3-0

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team earned its fifth shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory over IUPUI on Saturday night. With the win, NKU moves to 5-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in Horizon League play. The Jaguars fall to 0-7-0 and 0-3-0 in the League.
 
"It was another professional, organized performance to get us an important victory tonight," said NKU head coach Stu Riddle. "The lads are playing with great confidence which will stand us in good stead moving forward."
 
NKU SCORING SUMMARY
  • The Norse took the lead in the 23rd minute. Wlademir Babaew played a ball up to Tom Suchecki, and he was able to shoot it past the IUPUI goalkeeper to give NKU a 1-0 advantage
  • Calvin Murphy extended the lead for the Norse in the 62nd minute. Abdul Kooistra played a ball into the middle of the box, and Murphy headed the ball to the left of the keeper.
  • Felix Komolong scored his first collegiate goal in the 88th minute. The ball was played up the field by Jim Barkei. Komolong received the pass, took a few touches, and fired a shot from 25 yards that went to the right side of the net to give NKU the 3-0 lead.

  • Jim Barkei and his defense earned their fifth shutout of the year. Barkei made one save, and his record is now 5-1-3.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • Rikard Lindqvist took a hard shot in the 15th minute, but his attempt went right at the IUPUI goalkeeper.
  • Suchecki put the Norse ahead in the 23rd minute.
  • IUPUI's Alan Aguilar found open space in the box in the 36th minute, but he pushed his attempt wide left.
