Lipscomb gets past @NKUNorseBSB on Thursday

NASHVILLE - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Lipscomb on Thursday by a final score of 9-5. A five-run third inning helped the Bisons get the victory.  
 
AT THE PLATE ON THE MOUND
  • Nick Beard got the start on the mound for the Norse.
  • Travis Rowland came out of the bullpen to pitch 3.2 innings.
  • Gunnar Barnard closed out the final 1.1 innings, and he allowed just one hit.
KEY MOMENTS
  • Lipscomb took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
  • The Bisons added five runs in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. Jeffrey Crisan's single to center field scored two runs in the inning.
  • NKU got two runs back in the top of the fourth inning. Alas hit a two-run homer to left field that scored Griffin Doersching.
  • The Norse scored another run in the fifth inning. Moffatt and Doersching walked in the inning, and Mercurio singled to load the bases. Alas walked with the bases loaded to score Moffatt and make the score 6-3.
  • Lipscomb added a run in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Lee Soloman hit a double, and he scored later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Josh Martinez.  
  • Alas picked up his fourth RBI of the game in the seventh inning with a double to left center that scored Moffatt to make the score 8-4.
  • The Bisons scored two runs in the seventh inning. Jake Perry doubled to left center, and he scored on a single by Martinez. Martinez crossed the plate later in the inning on a single by Crisan to give Lipscomb a 9-4 advantage.
  • Chad Roberts hit a home run for NKU to right field in the top of the eighth inning.
NORSE NOTES
  • Lipscomb had 11 hits in the contest, while NKU had eight.
  • The Norse stranded 12 runners on base.
  • The Bison had no errors in the contest, and NKU had one.
  • Moffatt is now on a six-game hitting streak.
