Miami (Ohio) defeats @NKUNorseBSB in extra innings, 11-9

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team was defeated by Miami (Ohio) on Sunday afternoon. The RedHawks won the contest by a final score of 11-9 in 10 innings.
 
AT THE PLATE
  • Chad Roberts was 2-for-4 in the contest with a homer, three RBI and two runs.
  • Will Haueter went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and a RBI.
  • Mike Moffatt was 3-for-5 with a RBI and run scored.
 
ON THE MOUND  
KEY MOMENTS
  • Miami took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Landon Stephens singled through the left side, which allowed Parker Massman to score.
  • Roberts' solo home run in the bottom half of the first tied the game at 1-1.
  • The RedHawks took a 4-1 lead in the second inning. Massman's single brought home two runs in the inning.
  • Miami added another run in the third inning. Will Vogelgesang's single up the middle scored Kyle Winkler.
  • In the third inning, Roberts hit a double to left center to score Richmond. Roberts scored on a wild pitch later in the inning to make the score 5-3.
  • The RedHawks extended their lead to 6-3 in the fourth inning on a RBI groundout by Cal Elvers.
  • The Norse loaded the bases in the fourth inning. Roberts stepped up to the plate and walked to bring home Heavilin to cut the score to 6-4.
  • NKU tied the game up in the fifth inning. Nolan Rattai's triple in the inning allowed Haueter to score, and Rattai came home later in the frame on a wild pitch to tie the game at 6-6.
  • Miami took a 7-6 lead in the sixth inning when Stephens scored on a wild pitch.
  • The RedHawks went ahead 9-6 in the top of the ninth on a two-run homer by Ross Haffey.
  • Trailing by three runs, the Norse tied the game at 9-9 in the bottom of the ninth. Hauter, Moffatt, and Andrew Bacon all hit RBI doubles in the inning.
  • Miami scored two runs in the top of the 10th inning to get the 11-9 victory.
 
NORSE NOTES
  • Miami had 13 hits in the contest, and NKU had 12.
  • The RedHawks didn't commit an error in the game, and the Norse had three.
  • Miami left 14 runners on base during the game, and the Norse stranded seven runners.
