HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team split its Friday doubleheader with Milwaukee. The Panthers won the first game by a score of 8-4, and the Norse bounced back with an 8-2 victory in the second game.
Game 1: Milwaukee 8, NKU 4
AT THE PLATE
ON THE MOUND
- Cameron Ross got the start on the mound. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs (three earned). He also struck out five batters.
- Kyle Service, Nick Beard and Travis Rowland all pitched out of the bullpen. Rowland held Milwaukee scoreless in the ninth inning.
KEY MOMENTS
- Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Trevor Schwecke singled down the left field line, allowing Mike Ferri to score.
- Richmond hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to put NKU ahead 2-1.
- Milwaukee's Matt Quartel hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
- Trevor Schwecke scored on a passed ball for the Panthers in the top of the sixth to allow Milwaukee to take a 3-2 lead.
- Haueter's sacrifice fly allowed Bacon to score in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3.
- Mitch Buban scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh to give the Panthers a 4-3 lead.
- Milwaukee added four runs in the top of the eighth to take an 8-3 lead.
NORSE NOTES
- Both teams committed an error in the field.
- Milwaukee had 14 hits, and NKU had seven.

- Sam Williams got the start and earned the win on the mound. He went seven innings, allowing just five hits and two runs. Jordan Menfee and Joe Martin each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
KEY MOMENTS
- Milwaukee scored two runs in the top of the third to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Norse responded in the bottom half of the inning with a three-run homer by Roberts to give NKU a 3-2 advantage.
- Alas hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to put NKU ahead 5-2. Haueter and Roberts added RBI singles in the inning to take a 7-2 lead.
- Preston Pilat scored in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch to help the Norse get the 8-2 victory.
NORSE NOTES
