@NKUNorseBSB’s season comes to a close in #HLBase Championship

DAYTON, Ohio - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team bowed out of the Horizon League Baseball Championship on Thursday afternoon, falling to Milwaukee by a final score of 13-1. The Norse end the 2018 campaign at 14-39. Milwaukee moves to 25-26 and advances to the next round of the tournament.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND
  • Sam Williams got the start and took the loss on the mound. He allowed five runs on five hits in 3.1 innings.
  • Cameron Ross came out of the bullpen and allowed four runs (three earned).
  • Joe Martin pitched an inning, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits.
  • Kyle Service threw two innings in relief, allowing just one run on three hits.
  • Travis Rowland pitched the eighth inning and gave up a run on two hits.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • Milwaukee took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler Bordner hit an RBI double to score Ben Chally. Bordner crossed the plate in the inning on a single by Zach Nogalski. Later in the inning, the Panthers loaded the bases, and Colin Kreiter hit a three-run double to deep center field.
  • The Panthers added six runs in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 11-0. Chally walked in the frame, and he scored on a double by Bordner. Milwaukee then loaded the bases in the inning, and Mitch Buban hit a single to centerfield which allowed two runs to cross the plate. Dylan Rybacki followed with an RBI single in the next at-bat, and Trevor Schwecke reached on an error, which allowed a run to score. Chally closed the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right field, which allowed Rybacki to score.
  • Milwaukee got another run in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded, Schwecke scored on a wild pitch.
  • NKU scored a run in the top of the eighth. Haueter hit a double to left center, which allowed Chad Roberts to score in the frame.
  • Schwecke hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth for Milwaukee to make the score 13-1.
 
NORSE NOTES
  • Haueter ends the season by reaching base in 32 consecutive contests. He also has 46 doubles in his career, which puts him in a tie for fifth place in the NKU record book with Keith Jackson, who played for the Norse from 2002-05.
  • Moffatt recorded his 14th multi-hit game of the season.
  • Milwaukee had a 14-8 advantage in hits.
  • The Norse committed four errors in the game, and the Panthers had none.
