Milwaukee wins series opener against @NKUNorseBSB

MILWAUKEE - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Milwaukee on Friday afternoon by a final score of 9-3. It was the opening game of the series. Milwaukee improves to 18-23 on the year, and 10-9 in Horizon League play. NKU is 12-31 overall and 7-15 in the league.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND
  • Cameron Ross got the start and took the loss on the mound. He allowed seven runs in 3.2 innings.
  • Travis Rowland pitched 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
  • Jordan Menfee threw three innings and allowed two runs.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Tyler Bordner hit an RBI triple to deep centerfield, and he scored on Oakland Scanlan's sacrifice fly to right field.
  • The Panthers crossed the plate five times in the fourth inning to go ahead 7-0. Dylan Rybacki hit a three-run homer, and Ben Chally added a two-run single in the frame.
  • Milwaukee added two runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-0 lead. Chally and Matt Quartel each hit an RBI single in the frame.
  • The Norse crossed the plate three times in the top of the eighth to make the score 9-3. Roberts hit a single that was misplayed by the Milwaukee right fielder, and the miscue allowed Will Haueter to score. Doersching reached on a throwing error by the Panthers' third baseman in the next at-bat, and Roberts crossed the plate on the play. Doersching scored later in the inning on Paradis' single to right field.
 
NORSE NOTES
  • Haueter has now reached base in 22 consecutive games.
  • With his two hits in the contest, Roberts has recorded 12 multi-hit games.
  • Doersching moved his RBI total to 35, which ranks second on the team.
  • Milwaukee had 10 hits in the game, and NKU recorded eight.
  • The Panthers committed three errors, and the Norse had none.
  • Milwaukee stranded seven runners, and NKU left nine on base.
