@NKUNorseBSB tops Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon, 7-1

MILWAUKEE - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team defeated Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 7-1. The Norse move to 13-32 on the year and 8-16 in Horizon League play. Milwaukee falls to 19-24 overall and 11-10 in the league.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND
  • Sam Williams got the start and earned the win. He was dominant on the mound, as he allowed just one run on three hits in seven innings of work. Williams also struck out nine batters in the contest.
  • Kyle Service pitched a scoreless eighth inning.  
  • Joe Martin entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs in the ninth inning. He was able to get a strikeout and a double play to end the game.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • Moffatt led off the second inning with a solo home run to left field to put the Norse ahead 1-0.
  • Milwaukee tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. Mitch Buban hit a triple in the inning, and he came home on Trevor Schwecke's infield single.
  • Bacon hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning to put NKU ahead 4-1.
  • The Norse added three runs in the top of the ninth inning. Haueter hit an RBI single in the frame to allow Nolan Rattai to score. Collin Hohman also scored on the play on a fielding error by the Milwaukee left fielder. Haueter crossed the plate later in the frame when Dominic Mercurio reached base on an error by the Panthers' shortstop.
 
NORSE NOTES
  • Bacon's home run was his sixth of the season.
  • Haueter has now reached base in 24 consecutive games.
  • The Norse had eight hits in the contest, and Milwaukee had five.
  • Milwaukee committed three errors in the game.
  • The Panthers stranded eight runners, and NKU left five on base.
