Titans take series opener against @NKUNorseSB

DETROIT – Northern Kentucky softball dropped a close series opener against Detroit Mercy on Friday afternoon, 3-2. The Norse drop to 16-27 overall and 9-9 in Horizon League play, while the Titans advance to 24-23 (13-6 Horizon).
 
At the Plate
  • Detroit Mercy out-hit the Norse, 9-4.
  • Madi Mulder had a solid day at the dish, going 2-for-3 with a double and a home run while scoring both of NKU's runs.
  • Toree Stalter added an RBI and went 1-for-3 from the plate, while Ava Lawson added a 1-for-3 outing.
 
In the Circle
  • Taylor Ginther spent the entire game in the circle, striking out three batters while not surrendering a walk. She falls to 10-13 on the season with the setback.
 
Scoring Summary
  • Detroit Mercy plated all three of its runs in the fourth inning. The Titans led off with a single to left field and followed it up with a home run to center field, taking a 2-0 lead. UDM added one more on an RBI single through the right side.
  • Mulder doubled to right center in the fifth inning and was driven in off a single up the middle by Stalter to give NKU its first run of the contest. 
  • Leading off the seventh inning, Mulder clubbed her third home run of the year to bring the Norse within a run, but the next three batters were retired in order as the game came to a close.
