  • Ashlyn Zuberer tossed the remaining 6.0 innings, striking out one batter and walking two while allowing two runs on two hits. She picked up her first collegiate victory and starts her career at 1-0.

Scoring Summary
  • Western Michigan used a pair of singles and a walk to load the bases. With two outs, the batter was hit by a pitch, sending one Bronco across the plate for a 1-0 lead.
  • The Norse plated six runs off seven hits in the second inning. Hoover started things off with a solo homer to left field, followed by singles from Toree Stalter and Kailey Rossiter. In her first collegiate at-bat, Biddle clubbed a two-RBI single up the middle and was later driven in by a single from McDaniel. Mulder also got on base with a single, reaching home along with McDaniel courtesy of a Lawson triple to left center.
  • The Broncos answered back with a solo home run of their own in the bottom of the second, but the Norse quickly retired the next three batters to keep a four-run advantage.
  • In the bottom of the third, WMU loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a fielding error. A walk drawn by a Bronco batter provided the first run of the inning, followed by an RBI groundout to bring Western Michigan within two, 6-4.
  • Western Michigan used a walk and a single to put a runner on third, who stole home for the Broncos' next run. A sac fly then tied the contest up at 6-6.
  • Stalter was placed on second to start the eighth inning, and advanced to third on the first at-bat. She was then able to put NKU up by a run by taking advantage of a fielding error by the WMU third baseman.
  • Western Michigan was able to advance its runner to third as well, but Zuberer delivered a key strikeout before the final batter lined out to Stalter.
