HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team (0-17, 0-0 HL) lost to Eastern Kentucky (12-2, 0-0 OVC), 9-5, on Wednesday night at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex.
AT THE PLATE
ON THE MOUND
- Noah Richardson worked the mound for two innings to start the game, yielding one run on a pair of hits and a walk.
- Bryson Lonsbury came in the next inning, allowing two runs.
- Proctor Mercer put up a scoreless inning of relief in the fourth.
- Tyler Murphy (L, 0-1) allowed four runs through an inning of action.
- Tyler Keith gave up two runs on a couple of walks in two-thirds of an inning.
- Kurt Lange and Nick Noble closed it out with 1.1 and two innings, respectively. That duo allowed just one hit and a walk each.
KEY MOMENTS
- After Eastern Kentucky came out to an early 3-0 lead with one run in the second and two in the third, the Norse were able to trim it to a one-run game. Marion led off with a walk and Luty bloop-singled to center to get one in scoring position. Moss then sent one ball down the middle to score Marion.
- The second Norse run of the third followed when the bases loaded up after Jake Murray reached on an error. Bacon sacrifice flied out to center to bring Luty home.
- The Norse capitalized on another EKU error in the fourth to get a score. With JT McGee and Noah Fisher on through a single and a fielding mishap, respectively, Luty singled to left field to bring one McGee home.
- The Colonels had a huge sixth inning, plating six runs.
- The Norse had the final two scores of the game in the eighth. Jewell sent one sailing to left-center for his first homer of the year to lead the inning off. Then, after a single by Luty, a wild pitch and a groundout put the Norse senior firmly in scoring position at third. He came home through an infield single by Bacon.
