@NKUNorseMSOC Tops Green Bay in Road Win

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team got back on track with a 2-0 win over Green Bay Saturday afternoon. NKU improves to 4-6 on the year, and 2-3 in the Horizon League. The Phoenix fall to 1-6-3 overall and 0-3-1 in conference.

Scoring Summary
·     Ben Hegge opened this Horizon League contest with a bang in the 4th minute, as he struck a ball towards the lower right part of the net for the early goal.  
·     Roberto Burlew netted the second Norse goal in the 75' and it was assisted by Jesse Randall.
 
Between the Posts
·      Northern Kentucky's Daniel Bermingham (4-6-0) recorded his fourth shutout of the season in the 2-0 victory over Green Bay. Bermingham totaled a season-high seven saves while facing 18 shots. 
·      Green Bay's Tobias Jahn (1-2-1) in his fourth start for the Phoenix made four overall saves and faced nine shots. 
 
Match Summary
·    NKU's first shot of the day came from Hegge in the 4', which resulted in a goal.  
·    Green Bay saw its first shot shortly after in the 6' that went high over the net.
·    The first save of the contest was made by NKU's Bermingham in the 9' as he scooped up a shot that was aimed low.  
·    NKU retaliated with a shot from Craig Wellens in the 12' that missed to the right.
·    The first booking of the game featured Ryan Godding receiving a yellow card in the 25'.  
·    The Norse then received yet another yellow card just six minutes later (31') as Tobias Karlsen was booked.
·    The Phoenix posted back-to-back shots on goal in the 34' and 36' but Bermingham was able to nab each securely.   
·    Brodie Sallows ended the opening period with a shot on goal of his own aimed towards the upper part of the net that was saved by the GB keeper.  
·    NKU began the second half aggressively with a shot on goal from Randall, but Jahn was there to make the save in the 49'.  
·    The Norse were issued a third yellow card on the day in the 49' as Stian Jorgensen was booked. 
·    Green Bay's Kolton Prater was issued a yellow card in the 50'.
·    The Phoenix looked to test Bermingham once again in the 57' with a shot aimed low but the Norse keeper was there to make the save. 
·    Randall tallied a shot on goal in the 65' that was headed low but Jahn secured the shot.   
·    Another yellow card was given to Northern Kentucky in the 72' as Daniel Kaufman was booked.   
·    Sallows made one final attempt at the goal for NKU in the 83' but missed to the left.  

Norse Notes
·     Green Bay out-shot NKU during the afternoon 18-9. However, the Phoenix only out-shot the Norse in shots on goal 7-6.  
·     Northern Kentucky finished with four overall yellow cards compared to Green Bay's one. 
·     This was Hegge's first goal of the season and Burlew's second.   
·     Zaffino's assist was his first of the season. 
·     Randall posted his third assist of the year. This was the second consecutive match with an assist for him as well.

The Norse return to action next with a home nonconference match against East Tennessee State on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Northern Kentucky will kick off against the Buccaneers from NKU Soccer Stadium at noon.
