@NKUNorseMSOC downed on the road against Chanticleers

CONWAY, SC – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team was defeated, 4-1, in nonconference action by Coastal Carolina Saturday night. The Norse fall to 6-10 overall this season, while the Chanticleers improve to 5-4-4 on the year.

Scoring Summary
·      CCU was on the board first with a goal from Alvaro Garcia-Pasqual in the 11' with the assist from Olle Brorsson. 
·      The Chanticleers doubled their lead in the 41' with a penalty kick goal from Michael Fowler. 
·      Coastal Carolina netted goal number three as it was Fowler again in the 50'. 
·      CCU added another goal in the 67' as Marcello Jones' shot found his way past the NKU defense with the assist from Noah Glorioso. 
·      The Norse did not go down without a fight to the end as Jesse Randall fired a shot into the goal in the 85'. 

Between the Posts
·      NKU's Daniel Bermingham (6-9-0) started the match between the posts for the Norse, playing a total of 62 minutes this evening. He ended the contest making four saves and facing 15 overall shots. 
·      Josiah Pokopac came on to finish the night for the Norse, playing 28 minutes. Pokopac finished the match with no saves and faced two shots. 
·      Leon Schmidt (5-3) got the start in goal for the Chanticleers, seeing the first 67 minutes. Schmidt finished the night with one total save and faced four shots.
·      Joey Batrouni finished the match for Coastal Carolina, playing a total of 23 minutes. Batrouni eneded the matched with one save and four shots faced.

Match Summary
·      Coastal Carolina began this contest on the attack, posting their first shot in the 2'. 
·      CCU continued its offensive pressure, with two additional shots aimed at the NKU goal, with Bermingham making a save on the second in the 4'. 
·      The Norse posted their opening shot in the 7' with an attempt from Tobias Karlsen
·       Andrés Zaffino recorded the first shot on goal for NKU in the 9' but the attempt was scooped up by Schmidt. 
·       The Chanticleers took a 1-0 lead in the 11' with a goal from Garcia-Pasqual. 
·       Kyle Healy fired off a shot in the 17' but ultimately missed right. 
·       Coastal Carolina increased the lead with a penalty kick goal in the 41' with Fowler finding the back of the net. 
·       CCU looked to control the momentum of the second half as Fowler scored his second goal of the night in the 50'. 
·      The Chanticleers kept the heat on NKU posting multiple shots in the 51' and 53' respectively. 
·      Jesse Randall looked to get the Norse offensive moving with a shot that missed over the top of the net in the 57'. 
·     Coastal Carolina added a fourth goal in the 67' as Jones netted the score on an assist from Glorioso. 
·     Craig Wellens looked to test the CCU defense with a shot on goal in the 74' but was handled by the Chanticleer goalkeeper. 
·      This contest was capped off by a Randall score in the 85' as the redshirt freshman got the Norse on the board. 

Norse Notes
·      Coastal Carolina out-shot the Norse 19-6 during the contest.  
·      Randall netted his 10th goal of the season and finished the match with two total shots. 
·      Zaffino and Wellens each recorded a shot on goal during this match. 

Up Next
The Norse return to Highland Heights to host Oakland on Wednesday, Nov. 3 in the regular season finale. Wednesday will also be senior day for the Norse as they will honor seniors Stian Jørgensen, Dylan Bufton, Sam Slocum and Wes Collins. The match will kick off at 2 p.m. inside NKU Soccer Stadium.
