@NKUNorseMSOC set for senior day in season finale

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's soccer will close out the regular season with a crucial match against Oakland University this week. NKU hosts the Golden Grizzlies Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. inside NKU Soccer Stadium. It will also be senior day as the Norse will honor four total seniors, Sam Slocum, Dylan Bufton, Wes Collins and Stian Jørgensen

• NKU was defeated last week on the road in a nonconference match by Coastal Carolina, 4-1.
• NKU currently sits in a tie for sixth place in the Horizon League with only one conference match remaining this season.
• The Norse concludes the regular season with a Horizon League contest against Oakland. NKU will host the Golden Grizzlies this Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. inside NKU Soccer Stadium. Wednesday will also be senior day for the Norse as Slocum, Bufton, Collins and Jørgensen will each be honored.
• Oakland leads the all-time series against NKU 9-2-1 overall. The Norse won the most recent meeting 2-1 last season.
• NKU currently ranks 37th in shots on goal per game (6.25), 71st in the nation in total goals (26), 80th in total assists (24), 75th in scoring offense (1.62), 76th in total points (76), 80th in points per game (4.75), and 85th in assists per game (1.50).
• NKU's eight goals against VMI are the most scored this year by a DI team against another DI opponent. The team's 25 total points are also the highest single-match totals in the nation and nine assists are the second most.
• NKU is the reigning Horizon League regular-season champion, winning the league with a 7-1 record versus conference opposition and going 7-2 overall. The title marked the first DI-era championship for the Norse.
• The Norse were picked to finish fourth in this year's #HLMSOC Preseason Poll.
• NKU was also the Horizon League Championship runner-up.
• NKU sported one of the stingiest defenses in the country last year, ranking 13th in save percent (.837) and 23rd in goals against average (.748).
• The Norse received their first ever national ranking as a DI program 2020, checking in at No. 24 in Top Drawer Soccer's April 6 ranking. They moved up to No. 23 on April 13 in the TDS poll, but jumped into the United Soccer Coaches rankings at No. 22 that same week, setting the new DI highwater mark for ranking.
• GK Daniel Bermingham ranked 16th in the country in save percentage (.837) and 33rd in goals against average (0.748) in 2020. He has 70 saves this year, which ranks 13th. He also ranks 22nd in saves per game (4.67) this season.
• F Jesse Randall, a 2020 all-Horizon League First Team honoree, leads the Norse in goals scored this season with 10. Randall ranks 19th overall in the nation as well.
• Randall also ranks 21st in the nation in shots on goal per game (1.75) and ranks 25th in goals per game (0.62).
• Bermingham is the reigning #HLMSOC Goalkeeper of the Year.
Ben Hegge scored the game-winner versus Detroit Mercy in overtime in the 100th minute.
