KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – NKU closed out a trip to the Volunteer State with an 8-0 loss to Tennessee. This moves the Norse to 0-4 and the season and sees the Volunteers improve to 12-1.
At the Plate
- Jenna O'Hair was the only Norse to reach a base in the game, getting hit by a pitch in the fourth inning.
In the Circle
- Lauryn Hicks made her third appearance of the season in as many days, giving up six runs off two hits. She was credited with the loss, moving her to 0-3 on the season.
- Hicks' day at the mound came to close when Sydni Barnes was subbed in with two outs in the third.
- Barnes allowed two runs off four hits.
Scoring Summary
- The Volunteers earned the first run of the game in the opening inning with a homer to center field, courtesy of Amanda Ayala.
- In the bottom of the third, Tennessee piled on five more runs. The runs came from a groundout to third, a score from a wild pitch, and a three-run homer, respectively.
- Madison Webber finished off the scoring when she earned herself a 2-RBI double in the fifth inning.
