Women’s @NKUTennis falls to Youngstown State in first day of competition, 5-2

CINCINNATI, OH. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis slips to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the Horizon League after falling, 5-2, against Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon. The Penguins advance to 16-8 overall on the season and 9-1 in Horizon League play. 

  
Match Notables   
  • The Norse fell short in doubles play with the Penguins winning both matches to give them the early lead. Margita Sunjic and Ananya Kothakota fell short to their opponent, 6-1. Elizabeth Rozin and Hannah Watton lost 6-3, leaving the No. 1 matchup featuring NKU's Laura Sola Grau and Maria Koo unfinished. 
  • Youngstown State clinched the first point with No. 3 Lucia Zagar taking down Elizabeth Rozin 2-6, 2-6, but No. 2 Maria Koo quickly followed to gain a point for the Norse, defeating her opponent in dual 6-2 wins. 
  • The Penguins won the next couple of matches at Nos. 6 and 4, respectively, before No. 1 Margita Sunjic picked up the final point for the Norse, defeating her opponent, Tamara Teufl, 6-4, 7-6.
     
The Norse close out the weekend series against Youngstown State tomorrow, Sunday, April 25, with the first serve set at 11 a.m. at the Lindner Tennis Center at Lunken.
