Men’s @NKUNorseTennis falls to Cleveland State in #HL Tennis Championship, 4-0

West Lafayette, Ind. – The Northern Kentucky men's tennis team fell to the Vikings of Cleveland State in the #HLTennis Championship match Sunday afternoon, 4-0. Northern Kentucky closes the season 10-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play, and Cleveland State moves up to 18-4 overall and 8-0 in conference play.  

Match Notables       
  • The Vikings came out with an early lead over the Norse in doubles play, with No. 1 team Luke Phillips and Nico Mostard (CSU) defeating Andrew Niehaus and Emilien Burnel 6-1, followed by No. 3 Kade Mindry and Clark Billnovich (CSU) defeating Brandon Ponomarew and Santiago Casamayor 6-0, resulting in an abandoned match between No. 2 Trevor Ball and Jorge Rodriguez and Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Matthew Terry.  
  • The Norse put up a tough fight, but ultimately Cleveland State dominated in singles competition. No. 2. Terry (CSU) defeated Ponamarew 6-2, 6-0, followed by No. 4 Phillips (CSU) taking down Rodriguez 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. No. 6 JuandeDios Abboud (CSU) secured the Vikings' win, defeating Ball 6-3, 7-5.
