ROCHESTER, Mich. – Northern Kentucky men's soccer was tripped up in the 2022 regular-season finale on the road against Horizon League adversary Oakland Wednesday afternoon.
Northern Kentucky (4-11-2, 2-6-1 Horizon) saw the Golden Grizzlies (3-9-4, 3-2-3 Horizon) jump out of the gate with a quick goal in the 7' minute of play to hold an early lead. That advantage would soon disappear however in the 10' minute, as Deryn Armstrong, using his head, found the back of the net off a set piece from Andrès Zaffino to even up the contest at 1-1 overall. Oakland found an answer just as quick for NKU, scoring in the 16' minute to once again lead Northern Kentucky. The Golden Grizzlies were not done in the second half either, netting two additional goals for the 4-1 overall victory.
