@NKUNorseSB tripped up at Saint Louis

SAINT LOUIS – Northern Kentucky's softball team absorbed a 5-0 loss at Saint Louis, Tuesday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center. The Norse (8-12) were held to two hits in the shutout and finished with a fourth straight loss.
 
At the Plate
  • Billikens pitcher Chloe Wendling (3-5) largely neutralized the Norse in her seven innings of action, but Jordan Jenkins broke through with a single down the right field line in the top of the fifth.
  • Tatum Biddle singled through the right side two batters later.
In the Circle
  • Lauryn Hicks (2-3) pitched 3 innings. She struck out two, walked one, threw a wild pitch, allowed three hits and three runs (all earned).
  • Madisyn Eads pitched 1.1 innings (two strikeouts, three walks, three hits, two unearned runs). Alicia Flores came in for 1.2 innings and struck out two.
At a Glance
  • The Billikens amassed five hits and six runs. Gabbie Kowalik led the way, going 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored.
  • SLU got on the board in the bottom of the second with Kelsey Etling's RBI-single. Kowalk homered in the third while driving in Natalie Sullivan, who'd singled. NKU, down three runs, struggled to close the gap in the eventual 5-0 outing.
  • The Norse collected their two hits in the fifth but stranded two on base.
Next Up
  • NKU's game March 9 game at Bellarmine has been postponed. The Norse return to NKU to host their first series of the season at Frank Ignatius Grein Softball field. NKU welcomes Oakland at 3 p.m. Thursday and then hosts the Golden Grizzlies in a double-header at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday.
