HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky took Robert Morris to extra innings in a chilly Horizon League clash Saturday afternoon, but the Colonials scored twice in the top of the ninth and dealt the Norse a 5-3 loss at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.
NKU (14-21 overall, 4-9 Horizon League) and Robert Morris (18-12, 7-2) originally planned to play a Saturday doubleheader but frigid conditions caused the teams to move the doubleheader to Sunday. The first game is at noon and the second follows. Both will be on ESPN+.

- Lauryn Hicks pitched 4.2 innings. She allowed seven hits and three runs, struck out seven and walked none. Hicks threw one wild pitch.
- Madisyn Eads (8-8) took over for Hicks and surrendered three hits and two runs. She struck out six and walked two in 4.1 innings.
At a Glance
- Kendyl McKeough unlocked a scoreless game in the bottom of the third inning with a double down the right field line that scored Jenna O'Hair, who'd walked and stolen second.
- The Colonials scored three runs in the top of the fifth and stranded two runners on base. The Norse answered quickly, knotting the game at 3-all in the bottom of the inning.
- Sophie Margelot and Jenna O'Hair walked and advanced a base on a wild pitch. Jordan Jenkins' single down the right field line plated both runners and tied the game.
- The Norse threatened in the bottom of the seventh, as Kaylee McGinn pinch ran for Jordan Jenkins and worked her way to third before being thrown out at home.
- Sydni Barnes doubled to left center and reached third on Sophie Margelot's sac bunt in the bottom of the eighth, but the Colonials warded off the scoring threat.
- Erika Bell doubled to right center in the top of the ninth, plating two Colonials runners for what turned out to be the permanent lead.
- Both teams finished with 10 hits and left nine on base.
