FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Northern Kentucky Softball (24-27, 12-13 Horizon) completed the series sweep against the Mastodons of Purdue Fort Wayne (7-41, 6-19 Horizon) Sunday afternoon by a final score of 3-1.
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
- The Norse continued putting up runs on the Mastodons as Tatum Biddle crushed a double to right field to knock in Maddie Lacer in the bottom of the second.
- NKU added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth as Lacer singled to center field to see Kendyl McKeough and Ella LeMonier cross the plate for a 3-0 lead.
- PFW saw their comeback fall short after scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh, but Lauryn Hicks shutdown the 'Dons for the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Maddie Lacer led Northern Kentcky going for 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored.
- Lauryn Hicks (W, 8-7) continued her hot streak throwing a complete game against PFW, which she tied her career-high in strikeouts with 11. Hicks only allowed three hits, one walk and one run.
- Tatum Biddle posted a multi-hit day going 2-for-3 as well on the day with one RBI and one double.

Northern Kentucky Softball now looks ahead to the Horizon League Championship tournament which is set to begin on Wednesday, May 11. The Norse will be the No. 6 seed and face No. 3 seed Youngstown State at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
