JACKSONVILLE – The Northern Kentucky softball program ended the UNF Spring Break Challenge on a high note as the Norse concluded their stay in the sunshine state with a 2-0 shutout win over Army on Sunday afternoon.

Alicia Flores went the distance in the circle as she posted a complete-game shutout over the Black Knights. She allowed just three hits and added seven punchouts. It was Flores's first complete game on the young season.

Megan Kincer and
Kaylee McGinn paced the NKU attack with the sticks. Kiner had a 1-for-3 day at the dish that included a RBI and a run scored. McGinn added a 1-for-2 day with a RBI.

Trinity Robertson posted a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

Charly Koehler (1-for-2) also recorded a hit for the Norse.

Hannah Colbert added a run scored for NKU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two sides played four scoreless innings to start off the contest before the Norse broke through with two runs in the top of the fifth.
- Kincer hit a RBI single to right field to score Colbert and McGinn followed her up with a RBI single to the pitcher that then plated Kicer as the Norse jumped ahead 2-0.
- Just like she did for the first fourth innings, Flores wouldn't allow Army to even get a chance to get back into the game as she finished the final three shutout frames to close out the 2-0 victory.
NEXT UP
Northern Kentucky finally returns home to Highland Heights for the home and Horizon League opener against Green Bay on Friday, May 17 at 3 PM at the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field. The Norse opened the year with 20 straight games on the road at four standout tournaments.
