HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer program picked up a home non-conference victory in dramatic fashion Tuesday night from Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium, as the Norse defeated Western Illinois 2-1 with a goal scored in the 89' minute by
Sam Robinson.

MATCH BREAKDOWN
- The Leathernecks opened up the scoring in this non-conference affair first with a goal in the 7' minute by Kyle Owen for the early WIU lead.
- Freshman
Jason Purks netted his first career collegiate goal in the 18' minute shortly after to even the match up at 1-1. Purks put away a fantastic pass at the top of the box by
Caleb Mundell, which was Mundell's first career assist in a Norse uniform as well.
- NKU found their game-winner, courtesy of
Sam Robinson who buried a free-kick just outside the box to give the Norse the 2-1 lead in the 89' minute and ultimately secured the win as well. Robinson leads Northern Kentucky with four total goals on the year and ranks second in the Horizon League in the category as well.

The Northern Kentucky men's soccer program will now hit the road face defending Horizon League champion Cleveland State in a conference showdown this Saturday, September 30. The Norse and the Vikings will meet inside at Krenzler Field at 7 p.m. (ET) and this contest will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
