Men's Soccer ends 2024 season with loss to Wright State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The 2024 Northern Kentucky Norse men's soccer season ended on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a match on the Horizon League's decision day that eliminated them from postseason play. Going up against Wright State, Northern Kentucky played a solid first half after getting down early, as they drew level and went into the break tied at one. The Raiders pulled away in the second half with a trio of goals, ending NKU's dreams of a postseason berth.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • After Wright State took a one-nil lead in the 23rd minute, NKU answered back less than ten minutes later with their own goal. Parker Vasic put in his first of the season with an absolute beauty, sending a rocket into the back of the net in the 32nd. 
  • The Raiders' offense, one of the best in the league, scored three goals in the second half, all by different players. 
  • NKU outshot Wright State in the match, 10-7, but four of those came after Wright State had taken a two-one lead. Northern Kentucky also won the corner battle, 4-1. 
  • Tensions rose early between the two sides, as ten total cautions were handed out by officials during the match, with six of those coming inside the first 37 minutes. Six Raiders were carded, while only four Norse received yellows.
