RICHMOND, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky softball program was tripped up by in-state foe Eastern Kentucky by a 12-2 margin in a non-conference battle at Gertrude Hood Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Trinity Robertson finished the afternoon with a 1-for-2 performance at the dish that featured a RBI.

Jena Rhoads and
Sydni Barnes both added a 1-for-3 showing that included a run scored apiece, respectively.

Megan Lenhart recorded NKU's other hit in the contest off a 1-for-2 effort.

Tatum Biddle posted Northern Kentucky's other RBI in the non-conference tilt.

Brooklyn Ballis, fresh off her Horizon League Pitcher of the Week honor, threw a perfect inning of relief in the circle as she struck out two of the four EKU batters she faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Norse jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A sacrifice fly by Biddle scored Rhoads which was quickly followed by a RBI single to left center by Robertson that plated Barnes to give NKU the early lead.
- It was all Eastern Kentucky from that point on as the Colonels pushed across a run in the bottom of the second, two in the third, one in the fourth, another in the fifth and six in the sixth to close out the run-rule victory.
NEXT UP
The Norse return home to Highland Heights for a Horizon League series against Purdue Fort Wayne that gets underway on Friday, March 29. First pitch is set for 3 PM ET inside the Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field and admission to the conference clash is free of charge.
